a better person/happy/a monster
We mirror ourselves through other people, We seek acceptance and approval from others. We sometimes construct ourselves into different forms and shapes: lucky/happy/successful… Can this be translated into dance?
As I am an oldschool choreographer. I want to make steps and combinations, work with the handicraft of choreography… 1.738 steps, 43 combinations and 29 lifts. Small stories, big emotions, subconscious levels, all woven together, cut apart and edited into new forms, shapes and 5 different stories, or maybe 45.
Another idea is to use cover versions of different songs. Songs performed in different settings and surroundings… How many times can we listen to the same song, without loosing our concentration or simply just getting bored.
It’s always an abstract and somewhat difficult process to start a new work, It’s even harder to put it into words, even for the choreographer. For me the journey is the more important part of the process, not the final product. As an audience you see the final product, the performance, so YOU MAKE ME, if we succeed…
