For the creation of Gnawa, Nacho Duato was inspired by the landscape of Valencia, marked by the sea and the sun, and its Mediterranean flavors, smells, and colors. The Gnawas are an Islamic mystical tribe. Duato´s interest in the sense of gravity and the contact with the ground are fundamental elements of his work. This interest is renewed in the ritualistic tone involving the mystical trance that leads to (and is led by) the bodies in movement.
