The Göteborg Ballet

The Göteborg Ballet has for the past 10 years moved from being a classical ballet company to become a fully contemporary dance company.

The Göteborg Ballet has a history of contemporary repertory and collaborations with choreographers such as Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Jirí Kylián, Ohad Naharin and Nacho Duato. The coming years The Göteborg Ballet will continue developing by creating new works and collaborate with Jorma Elo, Johan Inger, Kenneth Kvarnström, Alexander Ekman, Mats Ek, Jens Östberg, Gunilla Heilborn, Didy Veldman, Fernando Melo and Örjan Andersson among others.

Apart from touring, dance works will be performed at the two stages within The Gothenburg Opera house. At the Main Stage the aim is now set in being more precise in the making of thematic works created mainly by Scandinavian choreographers, but also works by internationally renowned ones. The small stage will be used at the same time in more experimental works and workshops as well as for smaller scale performances.

The opportunity of being part of the continuous development of The Göteborg Ballet is a thrilling challenge. The qualities the ballet carries are high as well as its potential.
I look with great interest and excitement forward to the coming years of work with the company. Johannes Öhman
