Five dancers of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and Helena Waldmann met in the beautiful cloakroom foyer of the former Schauspielhaus Wuppertal. Within 4 days of encounters they brought plenty of scenes to light, which were filmed on the fifth day. On day six and seven the footage was edited. Eleven short minutes came out: Cloakroom Encouters
The performance on stage has started. The cloakroom attendants are on a break. Finally. No more coats, umbrellas, bags, and no more small talk with the audience, who are used to great service in this cloakroom. Whether they need to borrow opera glasses, get a button sewn on or have their shoes shined, everything is possible. But since the performance has started, the ladies and gentlemen behind the counter will have an hour or more of boredom ahead of them. Really? Well, not quite. Under normal circumstances you would never get to see what Eddie Martinez, Nazareth Panadero and Julie Shanahan are up to during their break. We are only letting you have a glimpse because currently theatres are closed.
