How easy it is to get out of step and how difficult it often is to find one’s inner rhythm –
the balance that provides us with strength and creativity: the rhythm of life. This is the theme of Takuto (Japanese for beat), which, following Taiko, is the second work by choreographer Eric Gauthier inspired by the art of Japanese drumming. Through the impulse provided by a shamanic force, the injured bodies, the broken human beings who populate the stage at the beginning of Takuto find their inner balance and thereby the energy to dance and drum.
