For all its dynamism, Last Work is defined by a subdued calm and meditative tension. This feeling is carried by the electronic sounds of the German music artist Grischa Lichtenberger. Constantly repeating sound patterns give the dance a space to unfold in the moment. In terms of dance, rapid group formations are repeatedly contrasted with the isolated body. Contacts arise easily, more casually than consciously initiated. With Last Work, the Israeli choreographer shows a rather calm, thought-provoking world full of strong, physical presence. An intensity that inspires. After the highly acclaimed re-staging of Sadeh21 in the 2018/19 season, Naharin now returns to the Hessisches Staatsballett with this impressive work.
