Imre & Marne van Opstal are the high-flyers of the international contemporary dance scene. For the Hessisches Staatsballett, the Dutch brother and sister duo developed their new creation I'm afraid to forget your smile for six dancers with the inclusion of choirs and explores the moment of letting go as a transitional state in the surrender to loss. A flash, so tangible and fleeting that time seems to stand still. In the physically powerful choreography, we are shown the fragility of man as a physical being as well as his strength in dealing with his own finiteness. In the interplay of dance, choral music and the impressive scenery by stage and lighting designer Tom Visser, Imre & Marne van Opstal create an ephemeral dance painting of many colors and layers.

"In combination with the selected chorale-like, meditative choral pieces by Arvo Pärt, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Howard Skempton and others, an almost sacred atmosphere is created. These 30 minutes of dance are a feast for the eyes." (Andreas Pecht, Rhein-Zeitung Koblenz about I'm afraid to forget your smile)
