In Force Majeure, the Canadian choreographer duo David Raymond & Tiffany Tregarthen explore the idea of a higher power that affects life as a mysterious force of the universe. At the same time, they raise the question of the extent to which this higher power is not also inherent in each and every one of us. Creativity and destructiveness as two opposing forces of human creativity balance each other out in this melancholy dance piece with tragicomic moments. In addition to their work with their own company Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, Raymond & Tregarthen's choreographic signature is characterized by a long-term collaboration with Crystal Pite. Following creations for Nederlands Dans Theater and Ballet BC, among others, Force Majeure is a further step in their promising work with international companies.
“The choreography ensures that you are almost sucked into a dense sequence of images with heavenly power.” (Stefan Benz, Darmstädter Echo about Force Majeure)
